Information for Vets
As a qualified Galen Myotherapist, I work within a collaborative, veterinary-led framework and place significant importance on clear communication with veterinary surgeons and practices.
Galen Myotherapy is a non-invasive manual therapy that focuses on the identification and management of muscle imbalances, restrictions, and compensatory movement patterns. I use hands on canine massage techniques, alongside lifestyle, environment and exercise advice.
Myotherapy may be used to support dogs experiencing muscular discomfort, stiffness, postural change, or reduced mobility, and can complement veterinary diagnosis and treatment plans.
I also provide maintenance treatments for clinically healthy dogs, particularly those involved in sporting or high-impact activities.
Maintenance myotherapy may support:
- Early identification and management of muscular imbalance
- Optimisation of muscle function and flexibility in active dogs
- Ongoing comfort and functional movement
I work with dogs in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and the Veterinary Surgery (Exemptions) Order 2015.
Veterinary consent is always required prior to treatment of any dog to confirm they are in good enough health to receive treatment.
Written reports are completed for all dogs after an initial course of treatment and at regular intervals for maintenance clients. I am happy to provide updates as often as needed.
I hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance for physiotherapy and non-invasive therapies and comply fully with UK GDPR under the Data Protection Act 2018. I trained and qualified through Galen Myotherapy®, completing the Full Diploma (accredited by Laser Learning). I am also a member of the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT). I undertake a minimum of 30 hours CPD annually, which I regularly exceed, including continued professional development through Canine Arthritis Management and I have trained to be a CAM Advocate (Level 1).
I have a keen interest in canine arthritis and prevention of issues and injuries. I am also passionate about helping dog guardians understand chronic pain, and offer ongoing social support and education to all my clients.
I consider Galen Myotherapy to be a supportive, complementary modality within a multimodal approach to canine musculoskeletal care.
I would be pleased to discuss collaborative working arrangements or provide further information if required.
